What Does a Session Actually Look Like?

Calm. At your pace. At your kitchen table. No judgment.

Letting someone into your home to look at your phone or computer is a big ask. Many people put off getting help for months — not because the problem is small, but because they don’t know what will happen once they ask.

That’s a fair thing to want to know. So here’s what an in-home session looks like, from start to finish.

Before Anything Starts

Every session begins with a service agreement. It sets out what we’re working on, how payment works, how your privacy is protected, and what happens if something goes wrong. You keep a copy, and if anything in it is unclear, you ask before signing — not after.

You can read the full service agreement ahead of time. No surprises.

Then I Listen

The first part of every visit is a conversation. What’s been frustrating you? What’s been worrying you? What would make you feel like the visit was worth it?

You don’t need to know the right words for what’s wrong. “It’s not working the way it used to” is a perfectly good place to start.

Then We Work Through It Together

Most sessions are some mix of three things:

1

Organize

Too many devices, too many apps, emails everywhere — we simplify it, so everything is in one place and easy to find.

2

Teach

If you want to understand what you’re doing — not just have it fixed — I’ll show you, at your pace, in plain language, for as long as it takes.

3

Fix

If something isn’t working, we sort it out. And if you’d rather I just fix it without a lesson, that’s fine too. It’s your session.

Every step is explained as we go, and we move at whatever pace feels comfortable to you.

What Stays the Same Every Time

✓ A few things to have ready

Any passwords the work might need. A backup of your important files, if you have one — and if you don’t, that’s something we can do together. And if there’s anything private on your device, close it before the session starts.

No Such Thing as a Silly Question

Most people who ask for tech help start with an apology — for not knowing, for asking twice, for “being hopeless with this stuff.” There’s no need. Technology changes constantly, and almost none of it comes with someone sitting beside you to explain it.

From me to you

The goal of every session is the same: that you finish it feeling calmer and more confident than when we started. 💚
